一、界说及用法：比照两个或两个以上的人或物时，就有必要用描述词的比照级和最高档。描述词最高档前须加定冠the，副词最高档前可省掉the。
二、构成：（1）单音节词和有些双音节词
第一组：
high--higher/ highest ， short--shorter/ shortest
strong--stronger/ strongest， slow-- slower / slowest
构成一：直接加-er/-est. （记住一个字“直”）
第二组：
nice--nicer/ nicest close--closer/ closest
wide--wider/ widest large--larger/ largest
构成二：去e再加-er/-est. （记住一个字“去”）
第三组：
big--bigger/ biggest thin—thinner/ thinnest
hot--hotter/ hottest fat--fatter/ fattest

（2）有些双音节词

②小（少）的：little→（比照级）less→（最高档）least
年长old→（比照级）older/elder→（最高档）oldest/eldest

在标明一方程度不如另一方的时分，用 a+less+描述词/副词原级+than +b 来标明。如：
秋天不如夏天热。 autumn is less hot than summer.
